Sayyid Ibrahimul Khalilul Bukhari was born in 1964 in Kadalundi, a village in Calicut district, Kerala, India. He acquired primary education from his parents especially from his father Sayyid Ahmed Bukhari, spiritual guide of that region. Under the guidance of Beeran Koya Musliyar, he pursued his higher education and graduated with 2nd rank in Islamic Theology (MFB) from Baqiyahu Ssalihath, Velloor in Tamil Nadu, India.
Soon after the completion of his education in 1997, he established Ma’din Academy (Ma’dinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya) at Swalath Nagar in Malappuram, the Muslims populated region in the state. Now under his supervision and spiritual shadow 15,000 students are gaining their education in about 28 institutions ranging from primary to post graduate level.
Ma’din Islamic Academy, Malappuram and International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM) reached in a mutual agreement for co-operation in various academic ventures. Rector of IIUM Dr. Syed Arabi Idid and Ma’din Chairman Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari signed Memorandum of Understanding in a function held at International Islamic University Campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the first agreement between International Islamic University and an Indian institution.
The agreement is for mutual understanding for exchanging students and teachers, facilitating research and publication in various fields, conducting international seminars and workshops and credit transfer between faculties. This will also enable students from India to pursue their higher study in 50 faculties and 150 academic programmes of International Islamic University, Malaysia.
Ma’din Academy has been honoured with the support of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia, in its novel technical educational endeavor. SayyidIbrahimulKhaleel Al Bukhari, chairman of Ma’din Academy had discussions with the University officials during his visit to Australia as part of Technorium, a cluster of technical education promoted by Ma’din.
SayyidIbrahimulKhaleel Al Bukhari received a warm welcome by the University officials and deans of various departments at the University of Southern Queensland, Tooowoomba in Australia. Ma’din Academy reached in a mutual understanding with the University for Cooperation in realizing new technical courses and training centres as well as carrying out employment-based study programmes and students-teachers exchanging. Discussions were also made on initiating the most popular programmes of USQ such Mechatronics and Agricultural Engineering, in Kerala.
A collaboration agreement has been signed between Ma’din Academy and Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi to impart Spanish language courses in Kerala. The Instituto Cervantes is a non-profit organisation founded by the Government of Spain in 1991 to promote Spanish Language teaching as well as that of Spain’s co-official languages, in addition to fostering knowledge of the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world.
Ma’din chairman SayyidIbrahimulKhaleel Al Bukhari visited Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi and held a discussion with Mr. Oscar Pujol Reimbau, the director of the centre, on the possible collaborative venture between both institutions. This is the first initiative from Kerala to teach Spanish from authentic sources.
Ma’din Academy will offer bachelors and masters program in Islamic Banking and Finance. The curriculum and course structure of the program, designed by the prestigious International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) will commence from September 2016.
Ma’din Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dar al-Mustafa University, Tarim, Hadhramout, Yemen. Ma’din chairman Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari and Sheikh Habib Umar Bin Hafiz, the international Islamic scholar and founder and Dean of Dar al-Mustafa University has inked the mutual agreement at a function held in Dar al-Mustafa.
Ma’din academy is all set to work with Zeng He International Peace foundation, for academic collaboration in the fields of Culture and History. An MoU was signed to this extend by Ma’din Chairman Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleel Bukhari and Dr. Hayun Maa, Director of Zeng He Foundation and Professor of the History Department at Fostberg University (USA).
Multi Faith Centre of Grifth University and Ma’din Academy inked an agreement with a view to collaborate on initiatives that will promote interfaith harmony and intercultural dialogues across the world.
Ma’din Academy in Malappuram and Tabah Foundation of the United Arab Emirates will work together to expand the ‘Alive in our Hearts’ programme to popularise the prophet’s teachings.

Sayyid Ibraheemul Khaleel Bukhari has been leading India’s largest Muslim conference from the year 2000 onwards. The conference is held on the 27th day of Ramzan every year. The conference attracts millions from various parts of the globe. The main highlight of this conference is Pledge against Terrorism.
He organised the Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance seminar in collaboration with International Islamic University, Malaysia in connection with Interfaith Harmony Week an initiative of United Nations.
Under his supervision ‘Knowledge Hunt’, an innovative learning programme which takes a group of researchers and scholars to various cultural and religious destinations of the globe was planned and executed. The programme covered China, Malayasia, Indonesia, Brunei, Uzbekistan, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Yemen and released a Voyage documentary film on it.
He conducted the Encomium, the International Conference on education and harmony in 2009. Scholars and prominent personalities from all continents attended the four day conference which popularised the knowledge tradition in Kerala.
He established and runs various educational centres to impart religious and material education across India. He is the founder of Research World International, a research organisation head quartered in Hong Kong to conduct and coordinate research studies.
He conducts the Vicennium to mark Ma’din Academy’s 20th year’s anniversary.
Sayyid Bukhari was selected as adviser, Interfaith Harmony Seminar and Award Ceremony conducted in Malaysia on 1st March 2012 and saspecial Observer in Global Moderates Movement Conference, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia in January 2012.
He was nominated to Global Moderates Foundation, an umbrella body of various organization promoting harmony and tolerance in February 2012.
He attended different programmes in Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent in Uzbekistan in connection with Knowledge Hunt learning programme 2011. And conducted and attended various cultural and academic programmes in Germany, France, UK, Holand, Spain and Mayota.
He was represented India in International Muslim Unity Conference, Kula Lampur, Malaysia in December 2009. He visited Yemen with one Indian delegation in 2008 in connection with various cultural religious programmes conducted by Darul Musthafa University, Tarim.
